Ophelia Kee Speaks

Something, Something, Something

- September 6, 2024

Dear Reader,

As usual, I've been prowling around and up to shenanigans. I think it's simply the nature of the beast, but no matter. This week, there is sad news, optimistic views, and a new book is out. So scroll through and read the bits which are interesting to you!

Goodbye to YouTube Audiobooks

It is with sadness I have removed the audiobook chapters for the Kingdom Rising miniseries from YouTube. I have already renamed the playlist. Thread will remain, but alas, I fear leaving the others.

Attempting to follow all the policies, I flagged everything as age restricted, and showed nothing offensive. I followed the excellent advice of authors who write similar steamy stories and the examples of some whose audiobooks are currently live on YouTube. But alas, it was a failed experiment for the Draoithe Saga.

The audiobooks are available from many fine audiobook retailers, including Kobo, Spotify, Everand, OpheliaKee.com, libraries and more. I'm sorry if you had begun the journey. Visit A Pack Forms Audiobook and please use coupon code ECDV7P2DEH at checkout to get your copy of the audiobook for FREE.

Continue your escape into the dream. Bookfunnel will deliver the files for your listening convenience directly to your email inbox. Thank you for supporting the dream and my continued efforts to share it with interested readers. I haven't given up. I simply must seek alternate paths.

Nephilim's Claim Now Available!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye! I did it. I published Nephilim's Claim. As I write this missive, the story is available from OpheliaKee.com and I await Google's leisure to craft the audiobook. By the time anyone can view this post, the story should be live everywhere quality books are sold.

A sneak peek at a plot twist Smoke never saw coming? Sure, why not?

“You knew! You set me up! What the hell is wrong with you!? Why?!”

She was everything, but she’d sacrificed him. Keira had set him up to die! The one woman he wanted more than anything in the dream had orchestrated his death.

He was f*cking fury incarnate. His fist struck the wall next to her. The drywall cracked.

She cringed away from his anger.

Seriously, no dragon returns from the dead happy. Anger is the rule of thumb with dragon resurrections. Is a Nephilim's magic enough to tame the blistering fury of an overwrought dragon? Or did Keira miscalculate?

Okay, I won't give it away, but it's a romantasy, so the HEA is obvious. Only it was never about the ending; it was always about the journey. In the Draoithe Saga, it's never really about the plot; it's always about the characters.

The Storage Issue

I kind of need my cloud storage to match my hard drive storage for the low-low price of free. I hoped if I created audiobooks on YouTube, I might gain the storage space I needed for the audiobook files via the YouTube channel. But alas, if you read my craziness, you know how that ended.

I have resolved some issues by opening another Google account, but the Draoithe Saga is massive. The stories I have currently published push the limits of storage capacity. I'm not sure how many Google accounts one can have before someone says I'm cut off. (I already have several dedicated to the day job, and two dedicated to my writing.)

If anyone knows of a better cloud storage solution, where I can link for those who purchase the serials, please let me know. (Subscriptions are a no go. The budget is far too tight.) I have a temporary workaround, which will probably suffice until the end of Valkyrie Riders, but I'll be back to the same problem by that point.

The good news? I linked the better Google digital narration to Nephilim's Claim in the Valkyrie Riders Miniseries. I'm not changing the others yet. It will take a long time. But it might free up space. So look for it in the future.

The iffy news? I have to wait until after the audiobook publishes on Google to add the audio files to the serial chapters. I weighed the chances people might not want to purchase the miniseries or subscribe to Read the Draoithe Saga if they had to wait, but the higher quality product won out over instant gratification.

Dragon

New and Old - Works In Progress

I'm currently reworking the tale of Light and Dark Magic. It needed extensive editing, and I've decided it should have always been a duet. Part one is Dungeon Master. Part 2 is Sorceress Valkyrie. They will be volume 4 and 5 in the Valkyrie Riders Miniseries.

I haven't decided on cover art yet. I still haven't chosen character art, either. And don't get me started on how I'm procrastinating writing the story descriptions. But I have got the stories separated, and I began the read through on Dungeon Master before it loads into Atticus.

The timeline is blurry. I'm hoping to publish the week of Thanksgiving. It's probably the worst time to publish, but with the day job, it's the most realistic possibility. That would put Sorceress Valkyrie on track to publish near Christmas or the New Year. Once again, not ideal publishing timelines, but the best I can manage.

I know. I said Dream Dark was next, and I meant that. It's halfway finished posting chapters and should be available as a book near the first of October. The read through was excellent. Few issues with edits have emerged. If the trend continues, I may even get it published earlier. It has a story description, character art, and cover. As soon as edits are done, the formatting should go quick.

Leaving Kind Reviews poster

That's the week in snippets. I have laundry to do, so I better run. Thank you so much for reading in the dream. May the rest of your weekend be wonderful. If you sneak in some reading, please be kind and leave your reviews. Welcome to the dream...

Be Careful!

Happy reading,

Ophelia Kee
